UCCA is a 100% volunteer organization working to fight hunger in our community. 
​
The board consists of business people, social workers, teachers, and community members who bring important perspectives to UCCA's mission of providing food, referrals, and services to Elmhurst District 205’s most financially disadvantaged children and their families.  UCCA takes great pride in the fact that over 98% of all funds collected go to feed those in need in our own community.

​Our History


As Elmhurst’s first and only fully commissioned police matron, Mary Creighton coordinated Elmhurst’s public health programs in the public and parochial schools, and was known to be the person to contact in times of trouble.  Mary led a personal campaign during the holiday season gathering food, clothing, and toys for Elmhurst families in need.  Following her death in 1977, Mary Creighton’s legacy to befriend Elmhurst’s less fortunate developed into a dedicated group of volunteers which would eventually become United Community Concerns Association (UCCA).

Early efforts of UCCA reach as far back as 1978, when the students of Elmhurst District 205 participated in the first annual UCCA Food Drive.  At that time, food was distributed to 23 families.  UCCA officially became a not-for-profit corporation on January 10, 1984.
